"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lillies of the fields grow.  They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these."  (Matt 6.28)

first usual issue on return journey from Cornwall holiday.  leave from Bude midweek, in cool shorts and flip flops (wish could think of cooler name) then need 3p's stop on journey; head into motorway service station near Reading in drizzle and rush hour- commuters play spot the returning holiday maker!

second usual issue summer late appearance tease now back in urban metrop.  clothing choice lottery as sun watches to see if AK has gone for cold safety wear or risk it short-sleave no jacket option.

meanwhile KCrew back to school in sartorial elegance of new uniform with third usual issue of large blisters from squeezing feet back into shoes/pumps etc.

shops all change for the big A.  am convinced that clothes retailers blow special memory loss gas out of doors to make passers-by forget that non summer kit is still sitting where left 4 months ago; (perhaps have obtained stock of urban myth chemical released into system of mums after giving birth to make forget pain; -is that true?)

looking at Jesus words that even Topshop/Diesel nothing compared to trees in autumn or beauty of every person.   need the eyes to see people like Jesus.

Thank Big G for clothes and for those who made them. Decide to try approach of wise friend- no hoarding, if one new thing in, then one thing out (another home if poss).

wonder what to make of report by mum on radio about dilemmas for daughter joining secondary school at 11 years.  pressure to have same bag, shoes, look, fitting in at all costs.

pray for children of our nation starting secondary school- to be happy being their age, happy they are them.

Remember millions of kids with no autumn fashion, no school, no shoes. still have the lillies, still beautiful.
